Do all SE phones have a battery drain problem? |

All my SE phones have had excellent battery life, and i've had a lot of them. Doesn't matter which battery is used, BST batteries with 900ma, 930ma, or 950ma, they all offer similar talk and standby times for me - 10 hours of talk time or 10 days standby time combined. As an example, with the phone starting at a 100% charge, if I talk for 1 hour, it'll go down exactly 10%. If i talk for 5 hours, it'll go down 50%. If I leave the phone on my desk untouched, it goes down an average of 10% every 24 hours. That should last for 10 days standby - and indeed it does as i've tested it.
This in itself is very impressive, and I can constantly reproduce these numbers, so its not a fluke. So what exactly is the problem?
Well, i've noticed that these figures hold true if the phone is used for ONLY talking. As soon as other factors are thrown in, everything quickly changes. For example, i just charged my phone to 100%. I loaded up opera mini and browsed the web for 1 minute. I then close the java app. The battery meter will still show 100% - and it should still be at 100% since i only used it for 1 minute. However, from this point forward, the battery will start draining at an increased rate than normal. Instead of 10% every 24 hours like normal, it'll go down 20-30% every 24 hours, which will only last 3-5 days standby. Even if I never load opera mini again, it'll still remain draining faster than normal. Its almost as if the CPU doesn't go back into proper "standby" mode, and sucks more energy than necessary.
I've noticed that java apps pretty much always cause this problem. Also, listening to music on the music player, watching video's, internet browsing and even browsing through the camera album can cause this problem. I don't know if its some kind of memory leak or CPU issue, or related to memory card access, but I can reproduce it every time, and on every single one of my phones - K800, W580, T650, Z710. The only way the battery drain returns to "normal" is if i turn the phone off and then back on again.
Note: I only have experience with A100 platform phones, not A200. This problem might only be limited to A100, i'm not sure. But since all my A100 phones do this, I can only assume all of them do. I'm curious if anyone else has noticed this issue. |

I noticed it too, there is a battery script that you can write it to your phone using setool2lite (this script is only for db2020) to fix this issue. After i wrote the script my phone have longer standby time.
Before script written - i got 1half day
After - i got 2-3days before plugging the charger again.

I don't think it is a patch. It is script imo... I haven't applied it. Never had a need for it honestly. My K800 for e.g. was lasting 3 days no problem without it.
Now I'm using smartphone (Symbian UIQ - P1) and no need of this. Battery life is the same as the K800 was. It's great i must admit.

I find that Flash themes drop my battery life drasticly, Flash theme battery lasts about a day, normal theme about 4 days. W910

I haven't noticed much different with flash themes. Most of my phones doesn't even support flash themes, yet the problem still exists when I try to do something like run a java app or listen to the radio. I don't think the problem stems from having a flash background. |

I don't think that flash themes drain that much battery.... They may drain it faster than if it is used without them, but not that fast. If you have 3g enabled the battery may be reduced also. Some people are using the phone with 100% brightness on the display also. There are cases where no3g coverage is available and the phone is set to GSM and 3G networks and it's searching for 3G all the time - which draastically drains the battery... All these mentioned above may be the reason for quick draining the battery of your phone.

Nope, none of those are what i'm talking about. The phone is on standby when the battery drains fast (with the screen off), so the brightness won't affect anything. I already have the phone forced to GSM only, so its not a 3G problem. Its something else... |
