it makes me ROFLM when someone says his phone is infected with Virus,no offense mean, get a life man, there is no virus that can infect your K800i, unless your talking about Computer Virus.
If it is infected with computer virus, that cant harm your phone in anyways.
Okie, How did you knew your phone is infected with virus.

There are no viruses for feature phones. You're likely to be experiencing a software issue. A firmware update should solve the problem.
Just go to SE's website and download the Sony Ericsson Update Service. Just remember to backup your phone data via the PC Suite.

K800 is java based phone... It cannot be infected. NO WAY!!!. After all if it is making problems you can reflash your phone firmare folowing this tutorial:
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=156090
and download firmware files from www.4shared.com. If your problem is software related, you should be fine then.

You need PC to do this... You can download them with phone, but you need a PC to flash your phone.

I already said that K800 is OSE (operating system by sony ericsson) and Java based phone. In fact it's platform has no any possibilities to get infected.

@striz, I appreciate you informing the newb about viruses, but can you please not refer to the K800 as a "java based phone"? Java is not an operating system, the OS is A100, not java.
Java is an application platform that sits on top of the OS for running j2me programs and games. The OS is completely independent of JAVA. |

Virus + JE = Impossible yet.
Love or hate me...  Nokia 5120 -> Nokia 6120 -> SE T200 -> Motorola V800 -> SE W800 (stay with my wife) - > SE K800 (stay with my mom) -> Nokia N82 Silver -> Nokia N82 Black Edition - Firmware v30.0.019 -> What is the next??. |

Ok it may be wrong, but after all I find it as a way to explain new users that this phone cannot be infected... Only types of app it supports are java. So a virus is not writen for java...
Sorry .

But that is not a virus after all.

@striz, sorry dude, no offence meant. I realise you had good intentions, I'm only trying to help avoid even more people getting the impression that SE non-smartphones are "java based". You yourself probably have this impression because so many know-it-alls are rabbiting on about "java based" phones when they have no idea what they are talking about. It just degrades the general level of understanding and discussion when people have this wrong. It'd be like saying that Windows is "java based" (after all JAVA runs on Windows too). See what I mean
Don't get me wrong, I don't think you are a know-it-all, because you aren't acting like you are some kind of expert, but others are and I'm just trying to correct the wrong information when I come across it. Please don't take it personally.
Actually I enjoy your contributions to the forum
btw, it is possible to write a virus in j2me, however due to the security restrictions on the java platform spreading of the virus would rely on social engineering (to convince people to allow the app to access the phone). But in theory it's possible. This is in essense the same technique that causes people to open email attachments that contain viruses (that would otherwise be harmless unless opened). Redbrowser is a j2me virus that worked this way.
However the phone os itself is a lot more secure than the java vm, because there is virtually zero ability of the user (or JAVA) to access the phones internal OS. But what would that matter if a java app was sending copies of itself to every bluetooth device it came into contact? I can guarantee atleast 1 out of 20 people will be tempted to accept the foreign bluetooth request, especially if it said "free porn" or something
So it's not JAVA that makes the phone invulnurable to viruses, if anything JAVA makes the phone more vulnurable to potential viruses than a phone without anykind of application platform.

@max - tnx for the words dude. About the "java" stuff. Most places and people are writing that SE are based on JAVA... Anyway tnx for the info I'm correct now. haha
Btw, you were right about "virus in java", it can be written, but java have permissions popups and restrictions so only a fool can screw up a phone like that...
