If you don't mind changing the half-QWERTY keyboard to standard keypad, you should use G900 instead. It have better features than a P1i

Well it has the camera and the new interface - standby application is different... In fact many of the G900's good app are possible to move to the P1. Currently you have the torch and the notes app, but others will be shortly too.. So if you like the P1 and it's 3.2MP camera you can stay with this phone as it has qwerty keyboard too. If you don't mind trading the qwerty keyboard for 5 megapixel camera, you can go for the G900.

X1i is releasing sooner than next p. That might be a good option as well?

Yeah but X1 is not symbian phone. It will be good option if you don't mind switching from Symbian UIQ to WM. Actually the X1 is the first phone that uses WM so there might be some bugs in it... If you decide to go for X1 you should wait to see it's advantages and disadvantages.
