Broadband supplies O2 has been crowned the fastest provider in the country. The company came out top with an average speed of 6.128mb per second and also won the customer satisfaction category with a rating of 3.84 out of 5. BT scooped the prize in the wireless broadband section and phone supplies 3UK was named as best mobile broadband provider. Well done to O2 and they have beat all original providers of this sort of service. And there was Virgin claiming to have th fastest and their not even in the awards. Anyone here have home broadband with O2. |

lol, congratulations, you made an idiot of yourself two posts running.
like Mr.Myagi said, home broadband is faster than mobile broadband, it's a simple fact, so yes home broadband will be fast and mobile broadband will be slow.....

Mobile broadband is ok for surfing and checking email but anything else its rubbish. My brother has 3UK mobile broadband and its not that fast. He downloaded quite a small file and it took ages. Speed also depends on your pc processer aswell. Im with O2 and have experienced many problems with internet and few other things and have even thought about moving networks but cant bring myself to do it cos they are still the best of a bad bunch of networks. |

To be honest o2 can't really claim to have mobile broadband with the speeds they have.

Ummm, I can't see why not.
Broadband is a generic term, not a designation of a certain speed. It can mean anything from 1/2mbps to 20mbps or more, and O2 get alot more than 1/2mbps.
And given the current status of mobile broadband, the market their aiming for it surfing and e-mails and light streaming, not downloading files. If you need to do that, wait till you get home.

O2 is not claiming anything about its mobile broadband speed. Its talking about the home broadband service as the title of this thread says.

Think your missing the guys points...
They were simply referring to O2's very poor 3G service (i.e. mobile broadband) which is pretty much non-existent...
They are not comparing mobile broadband to fixed line broadband and were just making a statement being fully aware of the thread title/topic...
Make sense?!
I also think its ironic that they get an award for their fixed line broadband service when their core markets version is so lacklustre!!!
I work in the City and even though there is supposed to be an O2 3G mast within 500 metres of me I still cant get a signal... On my train journey to and from work (Waterloo/Hounslow) I cant get a 3G signal that actually allows me to make calls!!!
And when I do a manual network search, I always seem to find signals from at least two of the other networks (phone set to 3G only)!!!
