I have a k800i and after using Wotan's service to upgrade to the latest firmware and choosing a Europe_1 for the language option, i get an error when i turn on the phone "Insert correct sim card". So after 15 hours or so of looking on the internet, i read about the CID 53 issue and such. I do have the cid 53 phone. I assumed (why i don't know) that using the firmware below will let me use the phone since it says T-Mobile and i have a T-Mobile sim card and i live in Seattle, in the US.

So this is what i have now after Jdflasher.

K810_R8BC004_MAIN_TMOBILE_SM_RED53.mbn
K810_R8BC004_FS_T_MOB_INT_A_RED53.fbn
HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_107_R6A_GENERIC_AMERICA_

I get the same "please insert correct sim card" message. Why doesn't this work? Why did Wotan lock the phone and can't i call T-Mobile UK and get them to issue a IMEI # to unlock it?????

If you originally bought your phone from T Mobile then it will be network locked anyway. Also if your in the uk then you should have used Europe_2 firmware. I think the american's didn't get the K800. They got the non 3G version called the K790. Also i think american phones use a different frequency than a uk spec model.

The possibly is that it was patch unlocked and once you flashed/updated it got locked.

As total gsm said. That was going to be my next reply as well. The phone can be unlocked using Davinci but it will cost you 50 euro's
