Phone Lock or SIM Lock? |

HI all,
sorry if this question is a little generic. I did a search on the forums and couldn't find an answer to this.
I hear about SIM Locked phones all the time. I know mine is. It's an AT&T T68i.
Question :
Is the lock on the SIM or is the PHONE itself locked to the carrier?
I know there are many ways to get the phone unlocked, a friend of mine said that I can actually call AT&T and tell them i want to sell my phone and they can unlock it? Can anyone confirm this?

There is a lock in the phone set by AT&T it has nothing to do with the sim card it self. |

Yes if you phone up your network operator then they should be able to provide the appropriate code to unlock your phone (if needed) |
