Just bought the phone recently from 02, despite the shitty customer services and knowlege, the phone is great n put a smile on my face!!! Apart from the camera, as all W980 buyers would know, the rest is good!

Does ne1 know what is that little LED on the left of the phone used for?

How can i get more/free games? bcoz SE apparently gave only demos which is riddiculous!!!

Apart from the cam it is a great phone. I noticed the led too. Its not in the user guide. So i think its only when the batter is dead. Or a serious problem.

The LED was on the W890 too. I remember a discussion about but can't remember what the W890 owners said it was for. Hopefully someone that knows like Masseur or >500 will come tell you what its for.

it notifies you when a problem arises such as a firmware issue or another issue. it may also notify of you charging the handset and/or missed calls etc.

Guys its definately not for charging or low battery indicator, neither it is an indicator for missed calls.

But Voda_jon you may be right about it turning on if serious problems arise such as firmware...thanks!

Btw has anyone tried updating the firmware???? it said do backup everything before you proceed. Plus games may also clear from memory. If anyone has updated the phone, do reply to this topic! I do not want to lose the original features if thats the case.

Thanks guys for the help, if there is anything new that you find out about the phone do reply to this topic!

Peace x

I did this last night (firmware now on R3CA038) and sadly it cleared all the phones memory, including all media . I used the media manager to make a backup and restore it (this kept all the senseme info, quicker to restore) but you will have all the content that the phone came with (games etc.) at least with generic firmware, but they'll be fresh, so scores and such like will be erased.

I thought it would have been a good idea to partition the flash memory, so you don't loose media too.

Also, i find it silly to use resources and time to add an LED to the phone for it to only be of use when a drastic problem arises (there shouldn't be that many handsets that'll make use of this LED, perhaps they will, we'll see) i would find it much more helpful as a missed call/message indicator as well as a "serious problem" light. oh well!

BTW the FM transmitter seems to work much better on this firmware.

Hope this was of help.
