Okay I'm having quite a few problems with my P1i.
1)The sound out of the ear-piece is dreadfully low. Now i have sensitive ears so it doesnt bother me much, but I also go to a lot of concerts and it is significantly softer than my friends P1i and most other phones i use

2)The phone drops a connection often but doesnt tell show it. SO i dont get alerted for messages or calls unless I cycle through flight mode.

3)The phones screen acts up a fair bit. Nothing major, but the color balance goes way off. Today it suddenly went a strong shade of blue.

Is there any easy fix?

and if there isn't, I'll be shifting to an iPhone 3g(looks to be going places the P1i sadly wont be taken...stupid sony..),
Whats the easiest way to migrate contacts along? Can't use the SIM and I'm on windows...

Sounds like your hardware is faulty, but just in case all your problems are due to corrupt firmware, I'd reflash it using SEUS.

Doing this will erase all your data (contacts etc.) so either use the pcsuite to sync with outlook, or to backup first so you can restore afterward.

If it's still bad, then get it swapped under waranty, before you write the model off, do bear in mind that your experiences are not typical for users of the P1. I think you've simply been very unlucky, and that you should try to fix it before spending a small fortune on a different phone.

sadly dont have warranty. got the phone in hong kong but I live in india. Can't send it for fixing either even at my own cost because I leave the country in less than a week. Unfortunate timing for the phone to act up.

Already tried restoring the phone. Has no effect so I'm sure its a hardware fault.
As for the small fortune, I can get a subsidized cost phone like the iphone so money isn't a big deal that considered.

But if anyone has any hack or something that can artificially raise the volume level perhaps? i've seen the one for the external volume. maybe theres something like that for the internal one?

Hi DagMX

1) Use the sound mod lite hack. Increases your handsfree earpiece volume.

2)When missed call alerts is activated ,it also pops up a message from the service provider when in flight mode

3)Theres an option to tweak the phones screen settings with a code ,am sure a search here will bring it up

I have my contacts backed up on outlook, didnt get the part about your SIM.
