K850i Welcome Message |

Hi,
Following a BROD I flashed and debranded my Orange K850i. So far so good on the new f/w. However I still get a "Welcome to Orange" message when the phone powers on. It's no biggy but I'd like to be able to edit or remove this. I remember from previous SE phones I've had that this was possible, but I can't seem to find the option on this one.
Can anyone point me in the right direction on this?
Thanks,
Steven. |

hi
if you get that orange thing it seems it wasnt debranded. now, if you want to take it off just go to menu, settings, display. there you will be able to change the startup screen.

Thanks for the prompt reply, however I've already tried that option and set it to none. All that does is stop the default animation at startup, I still get a pop up box that has the Welcome to Orange text in the middle. I'm sure it was debranded ok. |

This should have nothing to do with the network you are on. For this to happen, your phone would have to download from the network each time it turns on, which I highly HIGHLY doubt is happening.

No no, i'm pretty sure its the case - in fact, its definate - even my old S700i, which was on o2 - does this when an Orange SIM is put in!

Well I tried her vodafone SIM in my K850 (it's unlocked BTW) and I don't get the message, so I'm guessing it's something on the SIM that's causing it. Something I'll have to live with but as I said previously it's no biggy... |

If it was debranded , the orange or any provider logo should not come.
If it is debranded it will show only the SE logo and Sony Ericsson below it and the phone will start. For walkman after that it will show the walkman logo and start.

Correct, that's exactly what is happening. I only get the SE logo. The "Welcome to Orange" message is a text message that pops up in a box momentarily. It only happens with an Orange SIM, so it's not a SE issue, rather it's to do with the SIM. |
