I have just checked some of the K850i housings for sale on eBay and they require, 1 Torx 6 Screwdriver and 1 Torx 3 Screwdriver.
I'd check whether you have the right sizes.

T6 is what I use for Sony Ericsson , works fine.

Is it difficult or quite easy to make the t6 fit? |

It will fit in perfectly.
I have added a few pics, not sure if they will help.

Bottom of phone have t5 screws, these are very difficult to removed since they are secured very tightly.
T6 screws located under rear housing at the top, these are easy to remove.
I suggest getting small flathead screwdriver and filing sides slightly to get it to fit the t5 head.
There is a standard size of flathead (watch repair screwdrivers) which is just a tiny bit too big.
get a file and file each side until it fits, then get a decent cloth and wrap around the screwdriver. Without the cloth your hands will slip and you will destroy the screw head.
Turn as hard as you can (you should hear a dim squeaking, this is the screw turning).
If you use a cheap t5 then you will risk ruining the head of the screw.
Follow my advise and you will easily get them out.

Interesting you should say that mate, the T5 appears to be nowhere near small enough to fit into the screws? |

Perhaps I have got my numbers mixed up, All I know is that the k850i screws at the bottom are smaller than t6.
Unless you get a really expensive/decent screwdriver you are going to have trouble removing these screws.
