Anybody know who can unlock the nokia E71i.
I have just got one but Its locked to the 3 network and 3 want the contract to be paid in full before they will unlock it. Which amounts to £280.00 which is pretty much the price of a sim free model.
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Has anyone tried a BB5 turbo sim i've seen these on youtube working on an n95 8gb but the sim slot is quite tight on the e71 and wonder if it would go in?
Why are 3 terrible at unlocking their phones orange and voda are more than happy to help. Whats 3's problem....
ps you can actually get this phone in white or grey steel on 3 pay as you go for £239.99

Hi guys thanks for the replies.
I got it unlocked today. Ive already rewrote the product code as i want it debranding as well. Unfortunately there are no new updates on Nokia software update and no reinstall firmware option. Im too lazy to mess with phoenix so im stuck with 3 branding till Nokia decides to put a new firmware up.
my current firmware is 100.07.76 08-06-2008 RM-346 Nokia E71-1 (241.02)

Guys please let me understand as I never had a Symbian phone before.
I'm ready to buy an E71 and dont know what needs to be done to get in unlocked debranded. By what you say here, it should be first unclocked and then reinstalled firmware.
If I only reinstall next firmware that will come, will it make it debranded and unlocked in the same time ? I just keep aware as I've heard some persons braking it by trying to unlock on their own.
*Now that I've heard the rumors about E71i, I'd be willing to wait one more month, does it really exists ?

Hi
They cannot be unlocked for free , this is the BB5 platform.
You can flash it for free (debrand)
Are you in the UK?

Yes I'm from UK, thinking to buy it from Three, still in doubt if to get in on contract or as PAYG.
Could I get BB5 to unlock it by myself ?
So these are two separate things, debranding a phone/firmare does not unlock it. |

An updated E71? Where'd you hear that?
You could just buy the E71 unlocked/unbranded on o2 payg from carphone warehouse for £280 but you might need to buy £10 credit. |

You can get the phone unlocked for 25-30 pounds .
Please PM as to where exactly you are located in UK.
Anywhere close to London,Birmingham,Glasgow,Trent or Manchester?

I've been looking into this, and buying it from CPW on 'pay as you go', which is unlocked unbranded anyway, is probably the most efficient way of just getting the phone if you've already got a contract to use it with (£289 inc £10 credit)
However, if you want it with a contract, Three are currently doing it for free from £20/month 18-month, which is not bad.
