W890i - How to Unlock once you have the code |

Hi
I would like to unlock my UK Vodafone w890i. I have phoned customer services and have the unlock code.
However, the instructions provided to unlock the phone are not correct. I have tried phoning them a few times but they do know know what to do - they just have the details they have already provided. The steps that they advise are:
1. Take out the sim card and turn on the phone
2. scroll down
3. press * twice
4. scroll down to Network
5. select Yes
6. Enter code
7. select Yes
I am stuck at step 2. The only options I get have are Normal Mode and Flight Mode. I have tried pressing * but nothing happens.
If I select Normal Mode or Flight Mode I am then told to enter a SIM card and I can get no further.
Can anyone help!

step 2 and 4 should be to push the left arrow, not scroll down
