I had purchased a Sony Ericsson W850i mobile set (IMEI: 353736020279644) from Mobile Store in Jabalpur (India) on 16 Jun 2008 on cash payment. On 18 Jul 2008, all of a sudden the display of the set went faulty and nothing was visible on display. Within a couple of minutes, phone stopped working altogether.

I contacted the Mobile Stores and they directed me to Sony Ericsson authorized repairers "IT Solutions" at Jabalpur. On showing the set to them, I was told that the set had a manufacturing defect and that I could get the set only on late evening on 29 Jul 2008.

After I saw the set, I found that the push button for “Back/Accept” was broken. I immediately informed the repairer and asked him to change the set or at least the sliding unit, but they told me that there is no such provision. I had to leave for Delhi on 30 Jul 2008 morning, so I rung up the toll free No 1800111800 and then on 011-39011111 from 20:44 to 21:00 hrs. I talked to Mr Aman, Ms Shashi and then Mr Amit. They asked me to deposit the set again to the authorized repairers and assured me that the needful will be done. I went to the repairers “Ms IT Solutions” at Jabalpur, (M.P.) on 05 Aug 2008 and they asked me to contact after a week when the spare part is available.

Now, on 07 Aug 2008, the display of my set has again gone faulty and I am not able to make or receive any call. I again rung up Toll Free No 1800 11 1800 at 09:30 am on 07 Aug 2008 and some Ms Johny picked up only to ask me to deposit it back with the repairer. I have again shown the set to the “IT Solutions” and they have asked me to come after a week as the spares are not available.

With lot of grudges, I am constrained to say that quality and after sales services of Sony Ericsson are not up to the mark. The set has gone faulty thrice in about forty five days. It has already left me without communication for 10 days and now again I am without it. I don’t know how much more will it take. On top of all they do not have a policy to replace their substandard and defective product.

I don’t care if the set is taken back and I am refunded my money so that I buy mobile set of any other reliable company.

Wow, that's unfortunate.

Weird, too, cuz I know this friends who has a W850 and it's one of the sturdiest phones I've seen. In general, most SE phones are very reliable when it comes to build quality.

ill get shot for saying this, but consider the Nokia Xpress Music line up if your unsatisfied.
