screwed up touchscreen |

hey,
my se p990s touchscreen has recently become very temperamental. wherever i click, it actually clicks a couple of inches to the right of that point (this distance varies at different points on the screen but effect is always the same). because of this, i cant click the left most button (usually save, send etc) which is the most important! im stuck with using the enter button on the keyboard to select things and sometimes even that is impossible. my flip is already spoiled which is why im forced to use the phone without it. if i somehow manage to get through the various screens and try to calibrate the touch screen, it says too far from the point! ive even tried reinstalling the firmware but to no avail.
im totally stuck and can barely use the phone. any ideas what my options are? if i have to buy a new touchscreen how much will it cost? and can i replace it myself?
thanks loads to anyone who can help

I have read some people here having the same issues with the W960... I don't know byt if it is software it needs some kind of adjustment (center) of the touchscreen... Not sure if it is software though .

he meant re-calibration.
older UIQ phones had that but i don't think the new ones have that feature.
tried resetting the phone?

You may try calibration again again until the calibration is correct or close to correct. If it still fails then replacement of the touch screen is the only solution.
My advice is based on my experience with a touch screen PDA. It is still not very accurate but I can use the it without any problem as the calibration is now near perfect - only few place is not that accurate. I have redone the calibration - trying several times - after the PDA lost calibration data - also the result of several attempts - because it was left without power for a while. |

Re-calibrate by doing a hard reset then choose calibrate in the pop up menu after you master reset, remember to backup all files. |

Had a similar issue with my M600i (now "touch screen dead")... It began with the constant need for screen calibrations which I thought was a software issue. A little circle, bubble like finally appeared on a corner of the screen after a couple of months with the issue. This seems to be a tear/puncture in the digitizer which throws off the calibration ever so often. I lived with it for about 2 more months until another of those circles/bubbles appeared on the top left hand corner; screen just stopped responding to inputs after the second one. SE USA wants close to $200 to fix this but I decided to try the P1i instead... A couple of merchants adervtise the digitizers on ebay but I'm not sure how to attach to the lcd screen.
Keeps us posted should you find a way (cheap) to replace the digitizer... |

i don't know what u mean by older UIQ phones but G900 has the caliberation function. so the p series should have it too.
go to the setup wizard>settings>next>next. |
