Hey guys, I got a W980i today and played around with it a little bit. It's a nice phone with fast music media functions and interface. The speakers and headset that came with the phone are pretty good quality. The external screen media buttons work very well. After playing around with it, I went to charge it. I noticed the LED-like light isn't lighting up when I plugged the power in. The white LED from the clear plastic part lights up for a second when I plug the charger in.

I also did a service test to see if that LED lights up during the test and it doesn't. This comes to make me think that this may be some kind of design flaw. It sure looks like an LED that should light up when charging since it is next to the charger input. The LED doesn't light up when the phone is fully charged too. Anyone know what the purpose of the LED is for? Maybe it will get fixed by future firmwares?

There was something like this on the W890 too, but I can't remember what it's for, sorry. Hopefully a W890 owner will come along soon... In fact Masseur can probably help if hes around! But don't worry, your phone isn't faulty at all.

Congratulations for being one of the first to own such a nice, beautiful phone!

I think silverr is correct that is most likely a battery low light. Try looking at it when your battery is on the red line just before it dies. (usually after one battery low prompt msg)

Well on the w900i: it continuously flashes green, flashes faster after receiving a text message, stays green whilst in the charger and flashes red when the battery is low. I'm not sure if it is still the same with the newer phones...

Congrats on the phone mate

Quoting myself: Ask an in-the-know W890i owner. They'll know. In fact, PM Masseur if you want.

Sorry for bumbing this old thread...

I called SE support for an answer on what that smal (led) beside the camera shutter button.

They ran a service on their phone that would make are lights ld.
But this little "led" did not.

Oh well, didnt think much about it, just weird.

So one day I came home fron job and had very little juice in the battery left. I conect it to my SE charger - and quess what...

This fellow actually started to blink for 20 secounds in quite sharp red colour - and then my w890 (silver) started to charge. But since then I've never seen it lit.

Would be cool if a Firmware would include a missing call/text message/some kind of attention that action needs to be taken.
