I think it would all depend on what's important to you. Music? Sound quality? Speakerphone? Usability? Button placement? UI? Size? Bundled headphones? Bang-for-buck?
Who knows, especially since the new ones are not yet released. I quite like the W302 (same as S302) simply because I like the design of the buttons. Its edges are blockier (less rounded) than my current phone though, which makes it a bit less comfortable in the hand and especially the pocket.
I also don't like blingy shiny buttons, especially if they are plastic silver-coated which wear away with use. But as for technical performance, UI responsiveness/ stability, camera performance, value-for-money, etc...I doubt anyone can answer unless the phones are released and reviewed in detail and have been on the market for at least a short time.

This time he's right. The W980 and the W902 have the best audio quality on the cell phone market (it's been tested).
As for which walkman I think it's the best - well, that would be the W980 until the W902 is released solely because of the sound quality.

the phones are not even released so how can anyone even test this? without a DSP how can these phones match phones with a DSP? W980 runs the exact same audio platform(if there is a SE audio platform) as the current SE phones.
the 'clear audio and deep bass' BS is basically what the HPM-77 will deliver.

That's BS.
Have a look at this video:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/reveals/July/video_clear_audio.asp
And here's a quote from the /reveals site:
"This phone (the W902) allows you to boost the base, tweak the treble and choose the music type with the equalizers - features that have been designed to give you a perfectly Clear audio experience.
This is the same superior sound quality as the newly launched W980 Walkman™ which was rated "best audio experience" this month, in a trial conducted in Germany by TESTfactory."

Excuse my ignorance (I don't use phones as Walkmans... YET), but isn't a dedicated DSP only good if you are using the EQ? Isn't the most important thing for sound the:
1) DAC and associated audio circuitry of the phone (amp, signal paths being free from interference, etc)
...in the overall sonic picture, assuming you never make use of EQ?
I couldn't care less about EQ, but I do care about good sound designed from the start without even touching EQ.
Sony has traditionally equipped its Walkmans with puny 5mW + 5mW (into 16ohm) amps that can sound OK with earbuds but are really not loud enough when you connect some full-size headphones with higher impedance. Do they do this on their Walkman phones?
I'm assuming the original poster wants the best sound quality from a Walkman phone and doesn't care about the rest?
Anyone tried full-size headphones on their Walkmans (like the Sennheiser HD595 or similar) that can comment on volume levels? Just curious...and I hope I haven't hijacked this thread too much.

Any DB2020 phone with simple zapf modification would easily beat those new walkman series in sound factor
