Hello,
Weird problem: I'm syncronizing my p1i with outlook 2003 on xp via BT. Calendar and contacts. It works only if outlook is started. If outlook is not running the auto sync procedure reports "No connection to mobile phone" error message at the end of the sync attempt.
However the icons in the tray indicate that the connection is fine, I can even make a dialup connection through the phone so everything seems perfect.

The sync procedure tries to start outlook ... at least I see outlook on the taskbar to appear for a few seconds, but than it goes away and some seconds later (20) the sync finishes with the error.

If I start outlook and leave it running when the auto sync starts, it completes fine. If I start a manual sync, same described scenario applies.

Any ideas? Do you experience the same?

Thanks!

Fist of all,I wanna say you are lucky it syncs.Mine syncs only when it feels like and I can't find the cause. Regarding Outlook, it's natural to sync with a program available.Probably it tries to start Outlook and for some reason, it can't.But why don't you just make sure Outlook is on,like SE PC Suite is on?!

It has been syncing for only a few months with the newest PC Suite. With the old one it didn't work. I could only use the cable. With the new PC Suite version (1.5. BT works also OK.

I use the laptop for a lot of purposes where Outlook is not always running. It frustrates me a bit that I have to take care that outlook runs. The main goal for auto sync over BT would be not to take care of anything before syncing, it should be fully automatic, I shouldn't even notice that it syncs from time to time. With that I would have all my data up to date all the time. Nokia works flawlessly in this sense.

Of course usually Outlook is running, but not all the time and I have that "fault reports" popping up all the time when sync failed due to outlook not running.

I should be able to figure out why my problem persists. I think PC suite starts outlook correctly, and closes it when finished. I just can't understand why it sais no connection to mobile phone... I think this error message does not represent the real nature of the problem, it's just an ad-hoc error message because there is no better one.

Regards.

Sounds to me like the connection is initialised, but then times out due to the amount of time it takes to sart the required components of outlook, so I guess you need to find a way of maintaining the BT once sync has been started.

As for outlook appearing briefly in the taskbar, I think this is quite normal as the same thing occurs on my xp/2003 machine when syncing via usb.

Do you have "connect to this device whenever it's in range" checked in mrouter's BT settings?

It could also be a firewall closing the port once it thinks it's not in use.
