P1i and Outlook 2007 causes duplication and bad sync |

Hi guys, I'm a happy new owner of a P1i. Unfortunately, I'm having some major problems with syncing my stuff. First sync is fine, everything is passed both ways (though I didn't notice that it didn't save my contact's secondary handphone numbers from the palm, so I lost all of those).
The issue is, I've getting a lot of duplicate entries on both ends, though only on certain items. I think the problem is when I delete something on the phone, and sync(it's obviously still in outlook), the sync will stupidly put it back on the phone. If I delete it from outlook, the sync will put it back in outlook, which is really stupid. And somewhere through this process, the duplication occurs sometimes. So far what I've found to work is to delete the items manually on both sides, then sync...but that wouldn't really be called sync anymore, would it? Since I'm doing everything manually.
I'm using the default sync settings and with the conflict policy set at "use the item last modified" and delete policy is the to remove the stuff on the pc when it's removed from the phone.
I don't see many (or any) posts with such a problem, so I'm just wondering whether it's an outlook 2007 problem or anything? I know I could try and uninstall 2007 and try 2003, but migrating all that data is a pain. Just wondered if anybody has an idea?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers,

So do you have any workaround or solution to this problem?
Much thanks,

In the SE PC suite, Sync section, choose the Advanced Sync or Sync settings. There, you will be able to select some advanced options such as "delete item in PC if deleted from device", or vice versa. There are several options to play with, depending on what's relevant for you.
If you're keeping your most up-to-date contacts in your phone, here's another trick which I used in less advanced versions of the PC suite :
Create a sub-folder in Contacts in Outlook (I call it "backup"). Move all your Outlook contacts to that folder, so that basically empties your Contacts folder. THen sync normally with the phone. As the sync application will find no contact in the Contacts folder of your PC, it will simply copy all the contacts over from the phone. THen, on the PC, move all contacts from Contacts to Backup. Outlook will detect that some contacts may be overridden and will ask whether you want to update contact info for the existing contact in Backup, just hit Yes for all, and it will update all contacts in there.
THat's one trick i have been using since i only update contact info on my phone and use Outlook only as a safety backup. It's guaranteed not to create duplicates in either the PC or the phone, and only keeps most up-to-date info.
Hope this helps

Thanks for your suggestion
I have gone through those settings before. And I have checked the correct settings, that's why this is so frustrating. I have gone through the conflict options, and the deletion options.
Regarding your suggestion for the Outlook contacts, it's not a bad idea, and I'll keep that in mind if I use it for backup. Though I also want to keep my calendar and tasks and memo's in sync too The calendar will probably be the main issue. And I wanna be able to manage my stuff from the computer too, especially when I want to edit and delete a lot of stuff..doing that phone the phone is too slow and cumbersome

Hi there. I have come across this problem before. For me, I was using XP SP3 and there is a known compatibility issue with SP3. SP2 works perfect. Possibly you have SP3?

Hrmm....interesting. I'm actually running vista ultimate at the moment. I think I'll try syncing with me laptop tomorrow, that's running office 2003. We'll see what happens, hehe. My laptop is running XP SP2. I don't have any PC's with SP3 yet.
Thanks for the suggestion
