I have firmware R1CA037, which I think came with my phone (I got my phone 6months ago so it sounds about right).

I know that there are about 4 firmware updates beyond this version yet SEUS is telling me updating isn't available!?!

My current firmware is slow and buggy as hell, and for the most part, I've put up with it. But now that I know there are updates out there I really want to flash my phone.

But SEUS and UOTA both tell me that updating is unavailable.

Like many other users I'm disappointed with this phone, I feel SE have done a crap job with Sophia, which is a shame as I was looking forward to getting this phone for so long.

Anyone have any helpful suggestions? Sorry if the answers lie in the 500+ page firmware thread, i tried a search but didn't find anything definitive.

Thanks in advance,

Dan

From my experience, I'd stick with what you've got - the two fimware updates I've had from R1CA037 via SEUS have both given me BROD - including the latest R1FA035.

I've 'downgraded' back to 037 now, the best fw I've had on the phone...

Yes, ditto

Stick with that one since you won't gain much by updating to any newwer firmware. Also I'm using an older firmware than yours and I'm just fine.

If works, why break it?

Well I've had random reboots and crashes on this firmware, so I wouldn't call it not broke.

But from what I gather, the newer firmwares are even more buggy?

Do your phones feel sluggish on menu's and camera operation on this firmware version?

Hiya Dan!

Have you had the handset from new - and is it a Generic handset?

If it was branded, but you debranded using Wotan or a tool like that - I do know of certain cases (such as my K800i) where updates through SEUS are no longer possible...
Sony Alpha.
