It should go off (automatically) after about 6 to 10 seconds of connecting with the other caller.

Okay, I realized the above response was inadequate. Go to Control panel>>Display>>Power>>Light and check that it is set to auto. Of course, I'm assuming you're referring to the W950i.

Umm...it's actually Control Panel > Device > Backlight and choose Automatic. Hope it does the trick, it should turn of after a moment. Ifit doesn't, either restart or enter service menu and recalibrate your display light

Thanks, I'll give that a try. And while we here, i also want to ask why my in built opera refuses to open web pages. It happened today, I'm getting a lot of HTTP gateway timed out errors. This however is not a problem on opera mini on which the browsing is fine at the moment.

@EMS06
No problemo mate
@QVGA
Check your internet acc, if you're using 3G to connect your default connection may have changed the first priority to wifi, if so you should change it back to 3G since it has been trying to connect to a wifi connection that you last used. You can change this in Internet Accounts

Then try delete all other possible connections in your preferred acc except for the one you're using just to rule out the priority bug. This has been the only instance where I would get the gateway timed out prompt
