They dropped it from a moving bike, off a balcony onto ground, packed it in ice etc!

It's tough. I accidentaly squshed it against the metal frame of my bed trying to catch it as it was falling down, and the frame has two bent marks on it.
It has falen couple of times on a hardwood floor, with no ill effects...

I find in a decent case that it bounces rather well
I've droped it once or twice nude (the phone that is - not me) and all it has to show for such abuse is a tiny scratch on the top left of the aluminium front fascia. Aslo, the chromed strip on the back has creaked a bit since the first couple of months, but six months later it's not any worse.
All in all, I'd say it's pretty robust, maybe not as tough as the p990 though.

It once hit the concrete so hard that the stylus popped out. But the phone itself had only a few scratches. |

Believe it or no, mine never dropped in six months that I have it but front metal fascia started to separate from the plastic frame. A bit dissapointing....

my p1i was very tough, dropped, smashed, no problem but somehow the scrool didn't work like it used to, less accurate, not sure if it is due to the heavy usage or because of that drop and smashes things

The general flaw with a Jog Dial is that it can occasionally get bits of lint and other small pocket debris in it that confuse the sensor. This happened to my p990, but so far I've had no problems with the P1. In any case, it's a simple fix once you're brave enough to open the phone yourself.

Its even tougher wearing it's 'nurses night out dress'...
Only trouble is that the jog dial is tricky to use and also the extra bulk and stickiness of the the silicone case make it a 'No-No' for tight jeans pockets - but tracksuit or cargo pants are fine
