Dropped K850 in sink.help! |

Hi,
Hope you can offer some advice - i dropped my S E K850 in the sink 3 days ago. I turned it on straight after (mistake no. 1) and the screen had green and black vertical lines all over. I turned it off, took battery, sim and memory card thing out. I left it like that (with the flap at the bottom open) for a whole day, then put the stuff back in and turned it on again (mistake no. 2). Same green and black lines. I took everything out AGAIN, left it for a few hours then blew into the bit where the battery goes. Put everything back in, and it worked! Completely back to normal, i tested it by making a call and taking a few pics, everything fine.
But...i put it on to charge (the battery was empty before i dropped it) and it started charging up. Checked on it about 10 mins later and it was completely dead, wouldn't turn on etc. That was 2 days ago and there's ben no life from it since.
Is it possible i've cooked the battery? I don't know whether to let it dry out for even longer, or buy a new battery and hope that it will work, or worst case scenario but a new phone
Any thoughts welcome!
Thanks. |

Hi
Hope the screen is not water damaged.
Now you remove the battery and leave it out. The PCB would have got corroded ( blue stains). So you open up the screws take a tooth brush and some rectified spirit or Isopropyl Alcohol and brush it.
The battery connector will come out, brush there until you see the shining golden part again. Do this everywhere , should be fine.
You wont get Warranty from SE anyway as it is water damaged, you must be able to fix it with what I told you.
Let me know how it goes.

I once had my Sagem myx2 go into a full washing machine cycle, took the battery out and left it to dry for a day - had to buy a new battery but other than that perfectly ok the next day.
Unless the screen itself is damaged, you may just need a new battery.

The clock battery (the small one that is located on the phone's motherboard) can make a problem when phone is wet... It cannot be removed as the standard battery (you have to dissasemble the whole phone) so it says connected to the phone... If water goes to that, you are done...
