The B2700 is actually a significant upgrade to the rugged Samsung M110.

According to Mobil Czech, Samsung’s strategy is to launch phones in a market that has been rather underserved or neglected by the mobile industry.

Specs on the new phone include:

- 176 x 220 TFT display
- Music player with FM radio and RDS
- Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0
- Built-in compass AND altimeter
- 30 MB internal memory and up to 4 GB MicroSD expandable memory(edited by me. it was a typo i guess)
- 1300 mAh battery
- Quad-band EDGE

The compass and altimeter are cool. Id guess the C702 is a better choice for a rugged phone

Samsung is misinformed, this market was never ignored but just didn't bear the intended fruits for manufacturers. Ericsson and Nokia, to mention a few, tried with weatherproof phones but they didn't take off. Even SE had a phone like this about two years ago for the Japanese market. Like other developments maybe the idea was too far ahead of its time then. Either way we have to wait and see what happens.

it is water resistant and shock resistant.... the shock bit being a bit better than the c702 but to be honest i have a silicon case on ma c702 now and i av dropped it once already and nothing bad happened.... plus the numerous times i have washed it to prove to doubters that the water resistance part works lol...
