This is quite shocking to me. Every review says it has them, but it doesnt, i'm 100% sure.
There is no way to press them first of all, you'll only get a feed back if you press them very hard, which can damage the keypad surface after repeated use. When you open the media player, they lighted playback keys are there to high light the 1,2,3 keys which are in fact the play pause keys.

And the reason why you'll get a feedback after a lot of pressure is because you'll actually be pressing the 1,2,3 keys beneath them.

Isn't it like the W960 that it only works when you listen to music(Walkman open)? In that case you can only press it when the lights are on.

somethings wrong with ur phone mate. the playback keys are actually extended 1,2,3 keys but still very much pressable and soft and of course the walkman has to be on for them to work alse they will just type numbers.

to further shed light on this, try pressing the audio buttons when you are on stand by and you'll see 1 2 or 3 showing up as a number for calling
