Hey, my SE's camera has a funtion that stops it from working if the lens cover isn't open. But now the little switch that tells the phone the cover is open, is broken. So now when I want to use the camera, whether the lens is open or not, it tells me 'open the lens cover'. Is there anything I can do to maybe bypass that function or something so that I can use my camera again?

First...
What do you mean broken? is it just too loose? or it's totally torn into pieces

If you mean the first one then the lever switch on the camera flex is loose i think it needs to be tightened for it to work properly. if it's totally broken, then you need to buy a new camera flex

You have 2 solutions here:

- fix the lens cover switch (replace it with a new one) or;

- apply the "ignore closed camera switch" patch on your phone so the switch won't function anymore so you can use the camera again...

You need a program called Far Manager... Here is tutorial how to use it:

http://www.topsony.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20

You HAVE TO USE patches for your EXACT firmware version... If you use patch for different firmware you will damage/kill the phone and make it dead...

To check your firmware press >*<<*<* from standby, then go to service info/software info and see what is in the first line... That's your firmware version..

If your firmware version is R1BC002 I have a patch for it so you can use this one:

You do not need to doubleclick the patch file, select it with rightclick and then press the copy button in far manager.

going over the posts, me thinks the issue has something to do more with the a broken hardware part - better check it first, replace and that may actually solve your problem without touching the phone's software

I know it's harware, the little switch is broken but I don't have cash to repair it now (not time either). So thought I could just use the patch but it doesn't work properly(V.2) now I am going try V.1 and see what happens.

Before applying V1, first remove the old patch.
