K550i Or V640i? Someone help please. |

Hey, i dont know what to buy, the K550i or V640i.
K550i - £40 with £10 credit.
V640i - £50.
If i did get the K550i, i would flash it to W610i.
I need music in a phone, a good camera. And sleek looks.
Wich fone do you this is better?
Oh, and if you have any other deals/offers you think are better, please post! | |

Well, as regards your cam requirements, the  K550i cam has autofocus, which the V640 doesn't...
Also, I don't think you'll find a (sim-free/unbranded) K550i cheaper than the current CPW offer (the price you've already stipulated). Oh, and none of the horrid Vodafone branding.
I remember Orange selling the K550i at one stage for £34.99, but it's back to £49.99 on their site and I'd hardly call myself a fan of Orange branding, and it'd be network locked.
The V640i has 3G / HSDPA capability, the K550i doesn't. If you don't need 3G, it should make your decision even easier..
The K is also slightly smaller and thinner too.
The only thing I like about the V640i is the colour, but hey, each to their own..

The absence of AF doen't make V640's camera that bad. Some shots show good color reproduction. You can ask some users here for further reference (carkitter, Oli?).
V640's music player is way ahead of K550's one. You get XMB-style media center, eye-catching music player UI, album art and MegaBass support, etc. I'd pick V640 if I were you.
anyway, are you okay with K550's miniscule keys?
from my observations, sometimes it's better off not knowing. |

WhiteEye: Yeah im fine with the keys, my mate has one and their not a problem. Also, if i were to 'change' the k550i firmware to w610i firmware, surely the music player on the w610i would beat the v640i right?

Carkitter does have one though, and he has done an excellent review, which I now see you've already looked at.
The V640i's music player is better than if you flashed the K550i to W610i. That's because the V640i has the updated A200 platform which has many improvements over the K550i's older A100 platform. The only thing that the K550i has over the V640i is the camera, and nothing else (Appearances come down to personal preferences, and personally I like the V640i better).
In regards to the Vodafone branding that Amawanqa mentioned, it truly isn't that bad, but if you don't like it, you can get it changed to K630i software. Though this will cost you as you can't do it yourself yet due to A200 not being supported by XS++ yet. It will be possible soon though, we hope.
Anyway, I'd go for the V640i even if just for the newer software. Its that much better.

Thanks for the compliment mate. Amawanqa and WhiteEye do hold valid points also, so please don't buy a phone solely on my opinion. I do think that you will enjoy the V640i though - It is right up to date and has many new features over the K550i.
If you go with the V640i, or change your mind for the K550i, I hope you enjoy your new phone! Either way, you're picking up a good handset.
