...gives me the impression a bot is replying to me.

Hi, now this was ages ago at the start of the year. I wondered what if the K850i could take an Micro SD 8GB so I emailed SE Support, awhile later, I got a reply, and they said...well I'll post you the emails
...

ME:
Hi, I was just wondering, the MicroSD 8GB memory card, would this work on your K850i? Because I know the M2 card does, but the MicroSD is quiet a bit different in price - it is much cheaper, I know a 2GB would work, but would an 8GB MicroSD?

REPLY:

ME:
Oh, but on the website for the K850i is says

"Memory 40 MB Phone MemoryMemory Stick Micro™ (M2™) support (up to 8 GB) Actual free memory may vary due to phone pre-configuration"

Is this a mistake then?

Regards,

ME: (I started to get pissed off)
Hello, I am very unhappy with this service at the moment, I have been left confused and annoyed. Firstly I was told wrongly that the K850i takes up to 4GB on the Micro SD, then asked if it does really because on the website it says up to 8GB on the M2 and nothing about the Micro SD 8GB, then my reply was nothing about from what I asked but this time I was informed that it was up to 8GB only. I am confused and would like to be cleared up on this matter, I emailed a few weeks back before and got no reply.

Thank you.

Also, they are totally in denial:

ME:
Hello, I am currently deciding on a new handset, and have come across K850i, as I like the 5MP camera. I looked at reviews and read that the sofware for the phone makes the phone crash often. If this is true, will there be a firmware update later on fixing this problem? Can you please reply to me via email, thanks

ME:
The three touch-senative buttons on the bottom of the screen, I read, that there is a firmware problem and sometimes when you touch them they do not respond, but this was a review on a pre-model so it may be fixed now. If this is not a problem which I now am reassured it is not, then I will be sure to buy it, thanks

Another replys I got from another email:

Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Call Centre.

With regards to your enquiry, as you can appreciate the Sony Ericsson K850i is the most upgraded handset available in the market at the minute and we havent had any recalls or haven't been reported any known issues till date. However, like any piece of equipment, hardware failures may occur and that is why we supply a repair warranty with all of our handsets. If you experience any manufacturing fault on the handset you can report it to Sony Ericsson directly as its comes with two years manufacturers warranty.

Ha yeah right.

Do you notice they never actually answer the question, really.

Having worked in an E-mail support earlier, I can understand wheRe that is coming from.

The poor guy (I am sure this was not a bot), might have all the answers but he is simply not allowed to reply. This is the same with almost every other e-mail support.. the degree of "ignorance" might differ though.

Scripted, re used templates.

Actually not all of them. I can understand that though they get a high amount of emails, but it would be nice to see some personalty in the email. Because if you think of it, they think their having a faster service with the use of templates however I had to reply 3 times to get my answer, whereas I would only need 1 if they answered the direct question, so then times 3 by all the people that email them. Um that's my logic.

Bah, big companies and their support. Why can't they stop acting like bots, get their facts straight and give normal answers o.o

Was this the same support guy all along? You really can't blame them for not all knowing the same stuff. There'll always be people that know more than others.

Anyway, with regards to your email question. K850 theoretically supports up to 32 GB cards, but none are available yet.

Someone else on this forum told me that already. XP

32 lol, that would be nice.

But if the person replying would read the email that another person in the SE Email Support Centre had sent them before, because then why do they bother with the Case:79776570 and stuff then?

As frustrating as this must have been, it's not isolated to SE's email support, but is common to pretty much all tech support.

The best way to get answers, I've found, is look them up on the Internet and ask on forms.

This is definately the best option... I agree 100% with this

As from my experience, every problem I had, I found the solution on forums (not just esato, many of them)... I have tried asking supports too, but no one helped me successfuly... In my opinion, forums are places where A LOT of experience is exchanged/shared so it's easily to find someone with problem like your's and solve it together

Totally agree. A few times I had to call the SE support line, I ended up telling them how to determine the problem and what to do to fix it (this was way back in the early P990 fw with WLAN, they weren't aware that there was a protocol called WPA for connection)

I had another similar situation... When I bought my PC the shop gave me some pieces of software that they say are free, but you have to call them for activation...

And it happened. I installed the sotwares, called them, and after a LOOONG time of "their trying to solve my problem" they gave up... So I ended telling them how to crack their software with the serials I found on internet
