I already have a Gen2 iPod Nano.
I am thinking about replacing it and want to know what is the best MP3 player out there that is not made by Apple.
I am probably looking for a flash based player, but I haven't ruled out hard disk completely.
What about a headphones to complement the new player? (In canal type only)
What's your advice? |

I will always recommend Sony when it comes to all out sound quality (that is if you have some good headphones). But I think that any major brand will do a good job.
With regards to headphones, I believe Shure are considered to be pretty good, though expensive. I find that high-end Sony headphones will do the trick pretty well too.

they are the only cans you will ever ever ever need, no in canal but there's a good reason for that.....
if you really really must have bud type, Sony have always been reasonable, all depends on budget, a nice pair of Shure SE530PTH will set you back a good £200, or a Sennheiser CX300 are a snip at £30, I myself need a new pair of cans and will prolly end up buying some Grado SR125s in NY, the bass reproduction and vocals are so much clearer when they have more air to develop in, while I love my EX71 buds, they are a little harsh on bass (Well they are with the type of music I listen to)

Any of the dane-elec meizu players, for example this one
You can get 8Gb ones too.
Don't be put off by the unfamiliar name and low price, these players have excellent features, build quality and sound quality. I've been using one for several months now and simply cannot fault it at all.
