Are the prototypes the same as retail versions, build and software wise?
Are they upgradeable to restail software using seus?
They seem to be selling a bit cheaper that the retail ones both here and on ebay
Any other differences?

every device has many prototypes.
I tired a prototype that the stereo speakers aren't ready yet and they're so weak + no clear bass.
pay a little more and get a better device;) |

They have beta versions of the software and most of them don't have the exact same hardware as the retail versions (in almost every case the hardware is worse, like proto cameras.). Not sure if you can update them using SEUS though.
I would just get a retail one. Much more stable and full-proof.

I had a K770 prototype once, it only caused me headache.
You canīt use SEUS, SEUS use the IMEI number to identify the phone and protoypes (called brown) have "different" IMEI numbers compared to the retail (called red) ones.
Thereīs is no easy way to turn a "brown" phone to a "red" phone and in some "brown" firmware you have "spyware" thatīs sending sms to SE in complete secrecy.

se offers no support or warrenty for prototype phones, so if it breaks your screwed. |
