P1 Crashing During Night |

For the past 2 nights, completely out of the blue, I have woken up to find that my P1 has crashed whilst on charge.
The clock had stopped, my alarm didn't go off, and the phone wouldn't respond to any key pressed. The battery had to be removed.
Initially I thought it must be one of the apps running in the background, but after the first reboot, hardly anything was running, so I doubt it.
Can anyone suggest anything, other than a master reset?

Have you tried not having it on charge overnight to see if it's battery/charger related? Could possibly be that your mains power has been fluctuating in the night (electricity company doing some work?).
Have you installed any new 3rd party software recently? |

Thanks for the reply. I believe it only happens when the charger is connected, yes. I think I charged my phone Friday night and last night, but not Saturday night (and it hadn't crashed on Sunday morning).
I haven't installed anything recently.

Then this points to a problem in the charging system/your mains supply. My guess would be the charger - always been a weak link IMO, had two die on me completely on two consecutive holidays - not robust at all.
I guess you could check that the little spring pins on the charger/cradle aren't bent, and if you're using the cradle - that the charger is firmly plugged in underneath. My old p990 used to crash like this when it had an intermittent connection to the charger - it occured when I tried to plug it into the craddle whilst still in it's krusell case, the case held it off the pins just enough to make a very tenuous connection.

Thanks, I'll see if I've got another charger at home. Is any charger with the same connector okay? I may have one that came with a W810i.

I believe so, but I think there's a compatibility list on SE's website to be sure. |

You can use every charger for fastport connector so any charger will be OK...

Well I tried another charger last night and no crash, so it looks like you were right, Ad. Thanks!

Glad it wasn't anything more serious |

Me too! I was dreading having to do a reset, let alone taking it for repair.
Does anyone know what the policy is with regard to faulty accessories?

hi all,
am facing some problems with my P1i. last week i did the wm 3.0 mod and also the sound mod after reading from forums and info posted by swamail and others.
couple of days back, i found out that my head set 'talk' button does not work. it used to pause and play music when pressed. it also used to answer calls by pressing it once, this does not happen now.
also, when i am listening to a radio receiver in the minimized mode, two radio icons appear near the signal strength meter. again, the head set talk button does not function. is this some FW problem or what? i also tried a phone back up, just incase i need to do a master reset, the back up started off fine, but after a while of progress bar moving, it failed twice saying the mobile is not responding
any suggestions, i love to listen to music but do not feel comfy if i cannot control the music thru head phones
TIA |

Hi there, I just tried my phone and the only symptom I have is the double radio icon, everything else works fine - including remote play/pause in Wlk3.0.
I should also say that I'm using the headphones that came with the phone.
All I can think of is that either your headphones are faulty, or that you've somehow overwriten/deleted something in the file system relating to the button. You can check this by reformating your internal drive back to factory default.
As for the pc suite, I seem to remember similar trouble with this last firmware, uninstalling it (pcsuite), & installing the latest version from SE's site fixed the problem. Do backup your backups folder first though or you'll lose them.
So I'd suggest getting the new pcsuite first, making sure you can backup/restore, then formating your phone to see if it's the headset or not. Sorry it's all rather arduous, but it's the only way to resolve your issues that I can think of...Edit2:of course you could always try a different pair of headphones (duh - silly me )
EDIT: Just realised - I didn't bother with the sound mod, so this could be whats causing your trouble. I still think it's the pcsuite that's causing the backup issue though.
Can someone with this mod prove/disprove?

What did you do (if anything) with your phone between it working and not working again? This might give some insight into what may be conflicting with the button. It may be that the driver for the headset is at fault, or that some other program on your phone is causing the issue. |
