FS: Arcam Alpha 9 amp + B&W speakers |

Figured it better to start a thread as im getting interest on these.
I have 1 x Arcam Alpha 9 amp RRP £500
1 set of B&W speakers, 603's RRP£600+
both are approx 5-6 years old but both in great cosmetic condition...
both work perfectly although i had the amp refurbished at richersounds last year and i have a feeling it could do with that agin this year at some point - cost was £35 for this..
Obviosuly im not looking for the RRP prices.... i did pay the full amount on the amp but gave £440 on the speakers....
As any audiofreak knows these type items dont get worse with age, but better.
I also have loads of interconnects (mainly all cambridge audio yellows £30 each) and a shed load of biwirable speaker cable...
Im interested in cash or trades or a mixture of the two....
I have all documentation for both, but only the box for the speakers and not the amp... also i lost my remote for the amp, although got a replacement off arcam (not the excat one, but one that does everything it needs too [i believe the remote given to me was from a 'newer' model])
let me know if theres any interest
Lee

some bumf for anyone on the alpha amp:
Arcam's Alpha 9 integrated amplifier rivals the best separate pre and power amplifier packages and set new standards in sound quality, aesthetics and flexibility.
The amplifier delivers a continuous power output of over 70 watts per channel into 8 ohms, with both channels driven. The sound is clean, powerful and beautifully transparent with both digital and analogue sources, including vinyl records (note that the plug-in phono stage, which caters for both MM and low output MC cartridges, is a dealer fitted optional extra).
All the key electronic parts are of audiophile standard and are mounted on a single, through-hole-plated computer grade circuit board. All input and output sockets are gold plated. The high current VMOSFET power amplifiers are directly coupled to remove sound compromising capacitors from the signal path. Ample reserves of power are assured by the use of a massive 400VA toroidal transformer.
The Alpha 9's flexibility makes it the ideal control centre for a sophisticated hi-fi or A/V system. Six line inputs, including two tape loops, are standard; a seventh (phono) input is an optional extra - please discuss wth your dealer for further details. Separate listen (source selection) and record controls allow you to listen to one source whilst recording another; alternatively the record output may be used to send line level signals to a second amplifier, to play music in another room in your home or office. Both the listen and volume controls are motorised for easy armchair operation via infra-red remote control. The supplied CR35 handset also operates most Arcam CD players and our Alpha 8 tuner.
Two independently switched pairs of loudspeaker sockets and a headphones socket are included, so you can run two sets of speakers in separate rooms if required. Finally, the bypassable limited range tone and balance controls allow you to fine tune the amplifier settings to suit your listening environment and system requirements. It is easy to add Audio-Video capability systems using the Alpha 9. It has properly buffered pre-amp out and power-amp in sockets, as well as two tape loops.

hope this helps....

may possibly be up for some trades if theres anything interesting out there....

I'm guessing yours doesn't have the phono stage then...but it would be nice if you as the original purchaser, could confirm this please(not much point to an amp I can't listen to my vinyl on)??
Oh, if this IS the case, are you prepared to split??

ok, im slightly confused, but i will try and help.....
I believe it has no optional extras as i bought it from new and didnt purchase any, but i myself have used vinyl with this amp...... infact i had decks hooked up to it for a short period of time
Sorry, having a brain freeze today..... but yes, i would potentially be willing to split if the price was right.... with regard to the amp, one of the little rubber feet have dissapeared, i will try and find it, but i may not be able to (just so the potential buyer si aware) althoguh this obviously doesnt not affect the sound atall
again, if the price is right i ahve about 3 or 4 yellow camberidge audio interconnects RRP £29 that i will throw in
The amp is in storage but i can have a look for you and take any pictures shoudl anyone want any

Thanks muchly...and oo, sounds interesting then(I guess you had the mixer going in to the AUX input then - therefore no phono stage in amp required )!
I'm going to research a few more things about these components(603's were stuff of legend), and I'll be in touch, one way or another!
Ta again,

Aware....
Any man worth his salt (well a purist) wouldn't use an internal phono stage, always use an external one... gives you more flexibility etc......
So don't be afraid to get an external one, yes it's one more box but hell what's that for a little better sound
I use a CA 540p phono and to be fair to the little blighter it works flawlessly...
Lee if I had the pennies you know I'd have them 603s off you in no time!
