Rather a nice interview here where John Harber says SE plans to release 45 phones a year. Can't post the whole interview obviously for copyright reasons, but more in the link.

Sony Ericsson: Apple is not the only fruit

As Sony Ericsson unveils its latest handsets, Matt Warman gets an exclusive preview from managing director John Harber

Nowhere is the breakneck pace of technological change more obvious than in the mobile phone market. It's not enough for manufacturers to make handsets built around simple phonecalls because text messaging, the internet, a music player and a decent camera are considered essentials by many consumers.

Now, with the launch of its latest model, Sony Ericsson has something which, in the words of its UK managing director John Harber, could "genuinely be able to replace a stand-alone camera".

The company's C905 packs a Xenon-flash bulb and an 8.1MP camera into a body that, while chunky, could still sit happily in a pocket, and still get lost in the bottom of a handbag. It means, as Harber says, that "now you can take pictures that are big enough for you to crop out the bits you don't want and still be able to print out what's left at a decent size". That means, even in A3, images can still look crisp.

continues....

I'm really looking forward to see production model photos to see if this holds true. Compare with the K850 which doesn't even produce decent prints at A4...

Hahahahaha I love it how it says "Can Sony take a slice of Apple's market with its new range of phones?" underneath a picture of a K330!

Apple would die to have SE's market share LOL. I hate how everyone thinks Apple is beating all the other makes, how it apparently has a massive market share. Apparently the iPhone has the 3rd or 2nd biggest market share of smart phones! That's before it's being launched worldwide then. They plan on selling 10 mil, hmmm, so how many Nokia's, Blackberry's and SE's are there again?
Sorry, I just HATE the iPhone, I have a Mac computer and love it, but I never did and still do not believe in the iPhone. Ground breaking interface yes but not much else. And to see Apple fans think it's God's gift to mobiles is a joke, plus the fact it IMO will NOT survive in the worldwide market it is about to enter.

Apple just have a lot to learn from other companies.

What if I want an Apple phone but I don't want touch screen? I go to hell!
What if I want an Apple phone but I don't want the iPod functions? I go to hell!
What if I want an Apple phone and I want to increase the memory with M2 or MicroSD? I go to hell!
What if I want an Apple phone and a 8Mp Camera? I go to hell!

They need to diversify their products
They will not conquer the world with only 1 phone!

Yep, don't forget video recording, camera flash, replacing the battery, making video calls, mms. The iPhone was first and foremost designed for the American market, and now Apple is using the same design to take the entire global market on with. I just have to laugh my ass off when his Jobsness stands on stage saying how bad phones are at something, how they all look ugly, etc yet billions of people are happily using them every day. The iPod has had massive success, but there wasn't really anything like it to compete against. Their is no way the iPhone will do the same, hmm beat Nokia's market share, let alone anyone else!

I still doesn't understand why people buy iPhone or iPod...

All reviews says the music quality of the iPods and their headphones are really average, no FM transmitter (until you pay for another accessory), no voice recording, no battery changing or memory expansion, etc...

Why... why!

The major selling point of all Apple products is design and user experience, not features. The iPhone is not the highest featured phone, but, in use, anyone can see it is well designed. Same for Macs and iPods. Obviously, to consumers, user experience is becoming more attractive than features.

Also, if something is made by Apple and it has the 'i' in front of it--it's a wonderful marketing tool. That generates interest and sales in and of itself.

A lot of hating on Apple going here.

You all have to agree that Apple has done incredibly well in the mobile phone game despite only being in it for just 12 months!!!
