SM@PE seems to have a fairer judgment, maybe because they don't regard themselves too high as journalists.

@plank:
first you should get familiar with JBenchmarks, it is a program used to test the performance of the J2ME Virtual Machines installed on mobile phones (not the native OS like what you are trying to point out) and the project capuchin API is the culprit for the reduction in points there. the lack of this new yet processing hungry API on the C902 obviously explains it's superiority in the test. so forget about the fictious allegations about C905 having a downgraded/undercloked CPU. this time it's not the same thing as with the ill-fated K850.

Maybe you would like to visit the 2008 rumors thread during the huge announcements at MWC and find out(by reading the posts) how many are online that time on one of the most precious moments at esato

one of the reasons why c905 performs slower then c902 at the benchmark, is because c902 have a bit stronger cpu....
(i must say, i got a bit surprised when i saw c905 used a slower cpu)
c902 use a ARM9 169 mhz and c905 use a ARM9 146 mhz, (if you believe this web page)

The only things I could complain about myself is a bit of "lack" of GPS functionality (compared to the N95 with on-memory maps and having to use AGPS) plus the lack of a secondary camera for face2face video calls. However, all other features and functionality largely makes up for this and IMHO makes it the best SE phone so far.
no front-facing camera? tats kinda disappointing... |

if you're not using Java applications and games then you don't have to pay attention on JBenchmark results. like razec wrote (this was explained on Esato many times) Java Platform is runtime environment for Java apps/games only, not the phone's whole software

Well that is an estimation made by the jbenchmark software, meaning "the performance of this phone points towards a cpu of this clockrate." The correct interpretation would be that the resource demanding capuchin implementation implicates lower jbenchmark scores, leading the software to false conclusions about processor speed. |

Exactly, some people are just too naive

you guys are really something you call the guy a b_ _ _ _ _ d and anti se but you have no qalms using the guys test/reviews.
anyway the truth is here:
"Now we get to the Sony Ericsson C905 main problem. Sony Ericsson has recommended the price of 550 Euro, which is exactly the price bracket where the Samsung INNOV8 resides in. Needless to say it tears the C905 apart on almost every single front and, more importantly, it has been on sale for almost a month now. Being an S60 smartphone with 16 Gb of storage onboard (we will see a pared-down 8 Gb edition down the road too, although it'll be almost 100 Euro cheaper), support for memory cards, 3.5 mm audio jack, huge display, rock solid build, comparable battery time and a DSP, it's a clear winner if it's price/quality ratio that matters to you most. Techi, who have always been one of the key audiences for Sony Ericsson and C905-esque solutions, will sway more towards the Samsung INNOV8 as well. "
apart from maybe the camera theres no reason to get the c905 over the innov8 as far as im concerned. |

They left under a cloud
IMO it's best not to get TOO hung up about benchmarks and such, it only takes 5 minutes or so messing with a phone to determine if a phone is laggy or not, but to some people, paper stats are everything, hence the RAM debacle re the X1.

Price in Sweden starts at around 470 Euro, pretty far from a "recommended price of 550 Euro". |
