Does anyone know if you attach the GPS accessory (http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/accessories/overview/hge-100?cc=us&lc=en) to the k850, if it merely has GPS, or if it has aGPS?

Oh really now? That's unpleasant to hear...if Google Maps doesn't use the GPS, what does utilize it? I don't want to have just thrown some money away...

maybe the final release of google maps mobile will support the hge-100 now the iphone2.0 has gps it was beta when i was using it
also sonyericsson has three new gps products coming to market they should work with gmm
otherwise it comes with a link to wayfinder navigator one month trail
which i found better then google as you get voice directions
also links to a training app and non map location app

Wait, three new GPS models? Do you have links? I want one that's not a headset, but that is a bluetooth GPS, so I don't have to have it connected to my phone.

By the way, I have now found two GPS programs that use an external GPS. Once I get my GPS unit, I will report back to say if they work or not. One can be found on the SE site. If you'd like them, PM me.
