When trying to open my Message Inbox on my P1i, it displays "Corrupt" in a little box... yesterday it was ok, and I have around 200 messages there...
Also, SMS Diary reads the messages fine, so where's the catch?
What can I do?

But if you've got everything out with SMS diary then whats the worry? You can always forward emails to yourself, MMS will be the only thing you loose.

No damn, it's just the way it should be.

Or why would you want to backup and restore a corrupted inbox ?

Can't see a good reason for that.

Well, I may as well suggest this here as well as in the pm so people can tell me I'm being dumb, but why not try to 'file' everything in your 'unfiled inbox'? Do this by moving all the messages to a new folder. If you can get to the headers that is....

Just had a hunt through the file system, I think that the mms store is in C:sharedmms - you need to hack your filesystem to access it though:

problem solved!

I did a master reset... total waiste of time! it deleted all my messages, contacts, though solving the error, but some applications were still present, though not installed on memory card...

so... SEUS! ... I did a forced update, and so with a clean installation, I put back an older backup (1 and a half month old) having most of my messages back...

another important and nice thing: contacts and calendar can be indeed backed up, through the contacts manager / calendar manager, saving all it's data on the memory card (smart!)

but today... while listening to some music... what do you think? "Error" appeared on my screen, and the memory card seemed like it was empty!!! rebooted the phone and was ok.... argh!

thanks all for your help, and let's hope SE will work a little bit more on their phones, cause it would be a shame not to, great terminals ...

now guess what? damn phone froze with swiss manager 1.7 (!!!) , and soon after a restart, right on the screen that prompts for the PIN, it says: "Corrupt!" and could not enter any key... after moments of panic, I restarted the phone a couple of times, also removed the battery, and it worked.

Damn! What is happening? Are we talking about a defective unit?

I've had the whole "memory card goes missing" thing before, usually when the phone has been dropped - simply pop open the m2 cover, eject and re-insert it. This works every time for me.

If no such knocks are happening you could try cleaning the contacts on the m2 card, maybe its as simple as a bit of dirt on it which is causing the "corrupt" message.
