May I enquire how much your turbo type thingy was Masseur?

One of the 4 iPhones my family is using is a US one... and is a little bit of a pain come upgrade time... even though PWNy type installation of firmware is very good....

i concur, Turbosim is great, little glitchy when it comes to 3g surfing, apart from that its working great for me, was just wondering, did anyone find any trouble or problems after updating to 2.1?

after the update my Safari actually started to crash way more often, in fact, i had never encountered a crash prior to the update. is anyone facing the same problem as i am?

please let me know if there is a fix.

Regards

So this turbo sim thingy... I'm on Vodafone and don't really want to change to a new contract with O2 to get the new iphone. Does this turbo sim mean I could get a new iphone on payg for example and then just pop my Vodafone sim in and away I go??

iPhone Developers Go From Rags to Riches (wired)

The iPhone is a revolutionary handset. But it is also the key to a virtual gold mine -- the iTunes App Store, where independent developers can become multimillionaires in just a year.

Since its launch in July, the App Store has grown to become an indie developer's dream come true. Steve Demeter, developer of the vastly popular $5 iPhone game Trism, announced he made $250,000 in profit in just two months.

right, I'm a software developer... where's my iPhone SDK?!

What contract have you got, the iPhone 3g tariff?

Mine works fine to send, but i cant receive. This problem is due to MMS not being activated on my account as the iPhone tariff isnt provisioned for MMS. The thing you've gotta do is try and get O2 to get this activated on your account, but it can be tricky. Firstly it's essential when you call up to put your SIM in another MMS capable phone (they can see the IMEI on their system) and tell them that you want to be able to MMS when out and about when you dont want to take your iPhone with you, because they'll be very reluctant to help you if you call up off your iPhone. I called them up the other day and asked for them to activate it and the bloke sent some settings to my phone, but it didnt sort it out. The problem isnt the settings, it's getting someone to basically check a box on the system. Some people on the SwirlyMMS forums have had to make about 6 separate calls to O2 before they get through to someone who actually gets it sorted...so it's just peserverence

The settings i've got on mine atm, which are the ones that should work are:-

MMSC: http://mmsc.mms.co.uk:8002
Proxy: 193.113.200.195:8080
APN: wap.o2.co.uk

What is an "offical" or "legally" unlocked iPhone 3g?

Over on ebay there are loads of these iPhone 3G's up for sale stating they have been legally or offically unlocked.

If these are all authentic, does this mean that these iPhones can properly be used on any network?

sounds to me like they really mean that they were never locked and they are coming from countries who sell fully unlocked (never-locked) iPhones

An officially unlocked or factory unlocked iPhone means that it was never locked by Apple meaning when you update in itunes it will remain unlocked forever, however carrier unlocked ones have been unlocked as authorised by Apple for specific countries that arent allowed to sell locked phone. These could re-lock when updating with itunes.
