Just a quick question regarding iphone 2g. If I get it unlocked do I have to jailbreak it as well in order to download app store apps from itunes or will I be able to download them without the need for jailbreaking?
no need to jailbreak to get apps from the app store.
jailbreak allows you to install other apps using the installer app that comes with jailbreaking but to be honest, I don't miss that at all as most of what I had on 2g are free or minimal price on app store

Excellent thanks massuer. Im the same, I don’t feel any need for installer/cydia stuff but if I can still use appstore apps then that’s more that sufficient.
Cheers

Well- my iPhone is going back tomorrow! Hopefully going to get one that works! Mine has crashed on me almost daily for the past few weeks. Doesn't matter what software version I use! It's bad enough that the sync/ backup takes sooooooo long, but when the restore takes almost a full day to do and it crashes so often- well....
Anybody else had similar probs?
I haven't seen any proof of tomorrow all day! |

I've been considering getting a universal-sim which apparantly is now slimmer and so less likely to get stuck in the phone

So even with Turbo sim the 3G is not there for long and it may even stop working after a while?

hi bavlondon,
The sim solution for iPhone isn't very recommended as it may stuck easily on the sim tray where it's quite fragile, why do u need that anyway? Thought iphone3g sold in Europe are factory unlocked? |

only a few countries in Europe sell unlocked iphones but most are locked
the universal-sim I mentioned has been made quite a bit thinner now and so does not get stuck as the ones before did sometimes

hi masseur,
i had been using that the past few days till last week, the SIM solution was very much thinner compared to the first. it's rather more transparant due to being so thin (u can almost see through). but then, the signal not always stable if u get what i mean. you'd need a secondary phone (just in case u lose signal, and never get it back).
however, i met this guy the other day through a local MAC forum in indonesia. and he guaranteed me that the signal, 3G and all that stuff are working seamlessly. well, gave it a shot and voila! it worked like a charm, as if it ain't using a Universal SIM.
sorry, having said this because, i live in urban area, where signal strength not at their best, too much blank spot around (primary cause for your Universal SIM stuck in "search network" mode.
but with this SIM solution (the latest model, coz it was so much thinner) + its patch, claimed he made one, the signal is strong and never lost any ever since.
but then, i found the factory unlocked iphone, which in my case is more preferrable, hence i swop

Just hooked up with Paul_ford75 and I'm now the proud owner of an UNLOCKED iPhone 3G. It's currently running my T-Mobile simcard in it with no other sim adaptors i.e. Brando - NICE! |
