I think iPhone 3G is better (or the new iphone that´s coming out this summer). Taking a look at OS 3.0, you can tell how Apple is serious about pushing mobile app development further and further. In a few months time, apps for the iphone will get even more complex and robust, I don´t think N95 8GB will get that level of development in the same time. Go with the iPhone.

Shame on you!

You love your iPhone but haven't quite bitten the bullet and get mac yet, even Nanu is dipping his feet in and getting a G3 iBook, just to see if osx is as good as I claim!

well, I've been tempted before but now that I can possibly make some extra money from iphone development I more keen than ever

I've been programming since I was 14 years old back in '75 and have done almost every popular language since then and so I don't see the iphone as an issue, though coming up with an app that will prove popular might be a tough challenge given the number of apps already out there and the number of developers just sitting there dreaming up stuff

so now I'm more keen than ever to take the plunge

but is there really a similarity between iphone and mac such that as a keen iphone user I will find the mac as enjoyable?

You will love the Mac in a very similar way Masseur.... truly....

I have been a Mac convert for 5 years + and I am forever frustrated when I have to use a Windows in XP or Vista form....

Do you need any app suggestions ?

I don't know if this has been posted elsewhere. But strong rumour is that a new iphone will be coming on the market from May this year.

Well.....

Consider the spring board on your iPhone to be the dock on a mac, safari also works in a similar way, I'm sure you are aware but it's all built in a unix kernal so if you've programmed etc you'll know unix, Apple stores are more than happy for you go and hassle them about macs and let you play with them in store for as long as it takes for you to want one, I personally didn't like the iPhone, text entry for me was a nightmare, I possibly didn't spend enough time getting used to it, but I use my phone an awful awful lot (I've sent just shy of 100 sms today) so rely on text entry a lot!

It will be the best move you ever make Big M, I'm not saying this as a mac fanboy but as a ex-Windows user!

bavlondon2,
I know what 4G is... that´s why I typed ´4G´ instead of 4G, just so people would know I was refering to the model right after the Iphone 3G, not the actual 4G technology.

masseur,
I ´ve read on a couple of blogs that people are having problems trying to install beta OS 3.0, I guess it recognizes when your iphone is not part of the SDK program.

find a friend that is iphone dev, and you´re in...

i´m considering installing it or not...because i would have to loose my jailbreak stuff...althrough i can go back...decisions...

This beta release has serious issues, plus YOU CAN NOT GO BACK TO YOUR PREVIOUS SOFTWARE VERSION, SO BE AWARE.

Edit: No need to point out the source

Me wants a Mac too!

I wanted to cheat though, but from what i can see i can't install OSX on my current windows machine without reformatting the entire hard drive - which aint gonna happen!

@ares You been tempted yet with the shiny new beta?
