Yep, just hold shift and click restore, and you'll be able to select the firmware. Good to make sure you've done a 'Backup' first. |

No and No.
I didn't like the iPhone contracts (iPlan) my Operator (Orange) offered to me when i wanted to buy the iPhone 3G from then so I bought the iPhone from another person and used it with my Orange SIM.

@Coquito Shizer Do you not have any home insurance cover that covers personal belongings?
Big bummer mate. You thinking about getting your hands on another one, like once you've saved the cash?
@SE-Naz
Unfortunately not, it seems to leave them in there.... and lists 50 articles on the page, much like MobileMail displays ie 25 emails. But you can obviously mark all as read etc. I think other apps like the free RSS reader you can delete individual articles by doing a swipe and then delete. |

Nothing wrong with what has been implemented in the iPhone
well, like it is, it does not support a2dp and other advanced bt profiles at all...the bt stack needs to be updated, by Apple, or 3rd party...that was my point.
What is implemented works well, and Apple doesn't get any credit for it. I'm really impressed with the way it works with my two carkits and my HBH-PV705. Just read through the threads complaining about how the P-series doesn't connect properly, how it doesn't transfer contact lists properly. I've had feedback from customers that Motorola phones don't connect well with SE carkits and SE phones that don't connect well with Nokia carkits. No such issues with Apple - their BT stack is limited but it can't be called crappy.
What Apple have shown over the years is that they don't go in for spec races, they pick a few core functions and do them exceptionally well. If you're expecting the iPhone to come up to your standard of BT, I think you'll be disappointed.
I agree with the A2DP comment though, I can't see a good reason not to include it.
Edit: Time to address the elephant in the room.
Apple have released a closed platform for one reason only - to try to fight illegal file sharing and copyright infringement - not to annoy people.
I have a friend at Uni who openly admits that the iPhone platform is unsuitable for him because he is unwilling to download his Applications legally and pay for them, therefore he will be staying with WM. I worry about the kind of thinking that says he wants to earn his living in the IT industry but deny others their income. How can one be a professional without ethics?
Platforms which support illegal downloading will not be supported by App developers in the future and governments are already requiring ISP's to make internet users accountable for illegal filesharing. In NZ legislation is being debated which will disconnect users from the internet for illegal filesharing and internet cafe owners are being prosecuted for allowing customers to view pirated movies online.
People got away with it when it was done quietly, but now that everyone does it, the consequences are coming. I'd expect more platforms to become tightly controlled because when people can't control their own behaviour, they get their options reduced.

Gee, the silence is deafening.
We can't look the other way anymore, this issue is coming to the fore.
This is why Mobile platforms are going Open Source. This is why so many companies and App developers want to work with the iPhone and this is why the Jailbreak community are so desperate to hack Apples products.
DRM free and low price alternatives to illegal filesharing are now arriving. Pirate Bay is in court defending their actions. Significant revenues are being diverted and in this financial environment it won't be allowed to continue.

Just to kill the silence...
iPhone OS 3.0 is coming!!!
Will they make something actually new or just copy a couple of things from the hackers like they always do?
We´ll know on tuesday. |

Indeed
@carkitter, well, Apple failed in that aspec...despite all the security, piracy exists on the Iphone scene...its not hard to get apps you did not purchase on the iphone
So what´s the point of locking stuff that serious users need?
