Hi, I will be going to India soon, Shimla, Goa and Mumbai, Could someone recommend which networks sim I should buy..I need GPRS my phone is a PDA HTC trinity/xda/touch etc running wm6, GPRS is the main feature I will be using for apps like googlemaps from my pda. Also I will need the GPRS settings for my phone so I cam manually enter the settings.

I will recommend Airtel as it is available in all the areas you plan to visit.

Thanks for the info, do you know what they charge for data? the airtel website doesnt have much info.

Their data rates differ from one circle to another. India has like 24 cell circles and Airtel is the only private operator to operate in all the circles. (the other is the state owned Bsnl)The rates will depend on where you avail the sim from. It is usually very cheap.. So no worries on that front. I pay 349 rupees a month for unlimited usage. 1 rupee is like 48 usd... Although right now its free for me for three months.

Bro, is it all inclusive plan for 349 or just GPRS rental

Ofcourse...airtel is the best as far as the technological implementation is concerned.they were always first to bring any new technology in communication in india so far..since they placed seperate severs for each region the gprs speed is said to be improved nowadays...
