A file on my C drive, not a system file. I cant delete it. Its a .dat file, not a virus or spyware. It just says i dont have permission even though i am the admin.
Tried 6 different programmes to delete, nothing worked, not even safe mode.

Sounds like when i use utorrent and i move the file after downloading. It comes up with an error message saying it can't be deleted. Close the p2p software and maybe try that.

Did you try Unlocker? I had few issues before and it worked for me.

If it is a permission problem you could try to remove all user profiles from the rights panel of the file itself.
I'll try to explain it best as I can, sorry for missunderstandings. I'm using Vista and here is how I can try to do it:

Click the properties of the file, then click on the Security tab. Find Permissions for the SYSTEM then click Advanced. You will reach permissions tab, where you click Edit. In the new window uncheck 'Include inheritable objects form this object's parent'. It will then ask you if you want to copy, Remove or Cancel. Choose Remove.

Permission entries will be empty now. Now you choose Add.. and type in Everyone in the 'Enter the objects name to select', choose OK and check 'Full Control' of the Permissions that will follow.

Now you should be able to delete the file.
