I recently read that T Mobile are charging upto £2.50 a min for calls to 0845 & 0870 numbers on contracts. Is this true and if so how can this be justified its disgusting charging that much for local rate numbers. I mean on some tariffs its cheaper to call abroad than call them numbers and all other networks only charge around 15 to 25p. Not on i think.

From the T-Mobile website for Flext plans:

0800 / 0500 numbers Free to 10p / minute
0808 numbers Free to 10p / minute
All other 08 numbers Free to £2.50 / minute

Call Customer Services for charge information on the specific 08 number you wish to call. 08 numbers are not included in your call allowance

I made a three and a half minute call to a 0870 number on my flext contract the other day that cost me 30p

It says UP TO £2.50 a minute, bear in mind that out of all the possible 08xx number combinations, a few are premium rate or charge the earth to call them, which in turn goes through T-Mobile.

You'll prolly never pay that much in reality.
My opinions on this forum are that of my own and not of the company I work for.

I think the thing to remember here is to take whatever you read on the net or in the papers with a pinch of salt, as people often blow things out of proportion in order to have a bigger impact. And making sweepin statements about how good a company is, should be done with consideration as it's often based on personal experience rather than fact.

I actually read it in the back of T Mobiles store brochure in the Terms & Conditions section. Obviously misread it.

you can't really blame the networks for the prices to call these numbers, at the end of the day, these companys that give you these numbers to call such as these access numbers, set the rate for the call themselves in conjuction with mobile networks. so you should really take your anger out at the companys who provide these numbers.

i mean if they want, they can easily provide a 01 02 or 03 dialing code number. but they don't since they are a business at the end of the day.
