I noticed that my battery lasts a lot less than it used to. At first I thought that the battery was wearing out, but the same thing is happening with a spare battery that I have. Then, I remembered that my operator reciently switched to 3G. Could it be that 3G is consuming more power? I don't make many calls or use the internet it's just sitting there most of the time.

Yeah mate, 3G uses more power. And I find it uses even more power with a weaker signal because the phone is constantly searching for a better connection. If you don't use 3G, its probably a good idea to turn off 3G in your phone's settings as it will consume less power this way.

how do you do that?
I have k610. Only see 2 options: GSM and 3g, or 3g only.

Open MyPhoneExplorer_Setup_1.6.7.exe
Click F2 , then Search device. If you haven't installed USB drivers download here these: k610i_usb_signed_drivers.zip

I use mainly GSM only. Very seldom I add 3G - if I really need it. For example I had to use 3G when I was in Japan because there is no GSM network.

my w910 is always on GSM only mode...don't see the point of enabling the 3G connection since i dont use internet or video calling much + my 3G connection drops out alot depending where i go and i get periods of no connectivity =/
6 master resets, a debrand/reflash, and my w910 FINALLY seems to be stable...for now
