I am getting so fed up with this piece of garbage that i am ready to smash it.
It is sooooooooo slow. And yes, it has the latest firmware. Thank God since before that it would just reboot whenever it felt like it (inlcding in the middle of a phone call) and give the message "…rebooted to improve performace."
Half the time when i try to send an email i get the error message "locked." What's locked? Why? How do I "unlock" it? Well, the only way is to reboot the P1 and we all know how long that takes.
The other half of the time I get "Unknown Error" when trying to send or receive mail. In other words, it is more hassle than it's worth to use this thing for email.
Besides those problems, the interface is so bad it's laughable.
This is the end of the road for me with SE. I have had Ericsson/Sony Ericsson phones exclusively for 10 years. This P1 will be the last.
If you like the P1 and want one, I'll give you a great deal on mine. But hurry before it meets its maker.

[edit] I'm a newb here and am limited to 3 posts for the first day so i can't reply to anyone!

Let me guess: you're using Outlook for sync, and/or activesync.

no outlook for me. in fact, no MS products at all. I have a Mac and can only sync contacts and pretty poorly at that as the sync changes phone numbers and addresses from home to work and vice-versa. The calendar sync is unusable. And there is no sync for notes or to-do's. So syncing is another big point of unhappiness and SE won't put out a proper iSync driver.
I've just tried Goosync which seems to work pretty well.
My email problems are all with the built in messaging app and an IMAP account.

At least it was a sync, thing *cough*.. But that's something that comes back often. Inconsistency between the stored and updated phone- book entries seem to hang the phone when you get a call, or probably when it's trying to look up the info. Same when there's some contacts on the sim in one format, and some contacts on the phone- book in another.

I can't imagine SE doesn't know about this, but.. all right, I guess I can imagine they don't.

Too bad, I guess. The outlook sync seems a bit useless, too.

The cvs- builds of horde should support sync like that as well. (Nice with Swim on the internal sync function).

Well, that's a bit worse. Do they still use "pop before send" for auth, instead of a login? ..If you're on gprs, that probably will make you want to smash your phone. Or maybe they changed the folder- structure lately? That got me a "locked" message before - just re- subscribed again and it went away.

btw - don't you think the list-view should be possible to use to send multiple messages to any IMAP folders?

Priceless! The only problem is that it doesn't make a noise when you set it not to make any noise - you must be a happy chappy then

@perza:I am trying for a year to surpass the 9 days barrier. See my frustrations here:))

@RLP: it's no flaw, it's on purpose. When you want it silent, it'll be silent with NO sound to distract you.If you want sounds but no calls, you use the Flight Mode.I'm sure this is the reasin of your "flaw".
ONTOPIC: the first error, with "locked" appers on my message client when Yahoo mail keeps the mails on the server but I deleted mine from the phone.Other than that,no problem. And I have an older FW, never updated to the last one.
The ''unknown error" appears when there is a problem with the connection. If you also use Wi-fi in the same group, or your connection doesn't work at the time it will give you this message. I am pretty sure both of your problem can be sorted out.

I've had Sony Ericsson's for most of my adult life! T610, T630, S700, W900, K800, P910, P990, W960, P1i - and the P1i (which is my current phone) is one of the best I've had. In fact, in terms of stability in particular, it has to be the best Symbian I've had. I've had this phone for over a year now, and I've had literally one reboot. I've never had any of the issues you have described.

It's sad to hear that your sick of it. I hate it when that happens, when fantastic products play up and put people off.
