I have never really been that bothered about watching tv on my mobile. Dont see the point plus i think it uses up too much capacity. Its just poor quality too. |

Hi all,
Mobile TV got off to a rough start due mainly to bandwidth restrictions and Data speeds now we have HSDPA and it's getting faster both watching TV or down loading a clip or TV show is becoming a reality. As both processors and screens have continued to improve it is now able to deliver a quality user experience and will continue to improve further.
Again due to the improved processor power and better graphics chips they are now able to decode far superior codecs to 3gp which has drastically improved the quality.
As Multimedia smart phones start to become more main stream a long with faster affordable data there should be far more content becoming available.
We already have some deices that are able to use iPlayer which enables users to watch a lot of BBC content from the last seven days and in great quality either 3G/HSDPA or WiFi. I'm sure many more Web based services like this will be available in the future.
I really think over the next 5 years the advancements we will see in what we experience with our Mobile devices will be quite incredible as nearly all we need be it documents or Multi media will be stored on servers be be accessed from where ever we are.
Marc

Contendors ready
God that show used to dominate tv years ago
Ive never watched any tv on my phone at all,
but I will do at somepoint, wasn't amused by 3G Video Calling when I was on 02 you could bearley see people just patches half the time
If TV is anywhere as good as some of the video's I have on myphone to watch then what the hell
Marc, is the quality good coming from Vodafone? |

Hi Miss UK
No idea it really is not a service i would use i tend to download TV shows or films to my computer and then convert it for my phone. As i get the the best quality in full screen that way and not really sure there is anything i would want to watch. But it should be good by now with the better data speeds although i believe a lot depends on just how many others are trying to access the server at the same time as you.

I noticed O2 have no tv service. Is it cos their network is crap or are they scared all their capacity will be eaten up all of a sudden in their slow forever crashing internet. |

If you haven't got anything nice to say (in context) about O2 then please just shush.
My opinions on this forum are that of my own and not of the company I work for. |

Marc. Yes I totally agree I actually do the same on that boat download>burn to disc. However since Virgin and Sky threw there rattles out of the pushchairs loosing Sky's channel one which does enlist some good watching! Mite be worth watching for a quid a day so prob will test it next month due to my big bill approaching anyway 3.5g runs very well on Vodafone btw im actually happy I left 02 for once I used to think they were something special but not anymore typically. |
