..except that any directly opened rm link is apparently expected to be streamed off an unprotected portal with a perfect connection, constantly waiting for the phone all the time - so any streaming that depends on some UDP port of your choice (which is everything), will be erratic. And hang consistently after a few minutes. Making it pretty much useless, except for watching or hearing the first three, eight- something minutes of an interview.

(oh.. and why not be the first one to put down a confirmation for that bug on the wiki? >_< See the signature for the link.)

Really? lol. It really was worse than I thought. That's.. that must've taken some effort. ..Most likely there's some fixed sizes on the buffers going on here, or some other horror like that. *shakes head*

All I can say is - call SE and complain, loudly.. if you feel like you need to for purely recreational reasons.. Anyway - because they should've provided support for opening realmedia locally and on the net through the browser, with using a robust streaming component, and so on, that could buffer independently of playback up to a size of a buffer, etc, and then open new streams after being paused, and handle failing sockets, and blablabla..

And then write something in the wiki (..look at the discussion page for a template), ala "Realmedia files won't play", and "I have file such and such type, in this and that specific output format". (..Or maybe just add a note to the other streaming problems entry).

edit: then again, the player doesn't support all the newer rm formats, I think. Not sure what's going on with the way the realplayer is launched, either. There are two different players, and what's going on here, no one seems to know.
