hi all
figured a dedicated thread would be best rather than filling up the blackberry club one.
Blackberry has officially announced the 'Bold'
http://www.blackberry.com/blackberrybold/
Here's the rundown:
• Has 802.11a/b/g plus good GPS, typically a tradeoff with BBs
• GPS is enhanced and assisted, and the handset has better map rendering, says Laptop
• 480 x 320 resolution screen with 65,000 colors—Crave says "never seen a better-looking display"
• 624MHz Intel PXA270/Marvell Tavor PXA930 processor (reports differ), up from 312MHz
• Runs BlackBerry OS 4.6
• Keyboard has 8800-style "sculpted keys," says PC Mag, "but the rows are separated by curved barriers"
• 4.5" tall x 2.6" wide x 0.5" deep, weighing 4.7oz
• Side-loading MicroSD/SDHC slot for up to 16GB additional
• 2MP camera with flash
• Talk time of 5 hours, with standby of 13 days
• MP3, WMA, AAC, DivX4 and WMV3 codec support
• 3.5mm headphone jack
• "Pretty powerful speakers—none of that weak, tinny junk," says Crave
• 128MB of flash plus 1GB of onboard memory (with encryption)
• Black leather back panel that can be swapped for other colour leather plates
• Pricing will be US$300 to US$500 says BGR, a pretty wide (and obvious) range; Crave narrows it to "US$300 to US$400"

The prices mentioned, are they subsidised prices?
What might be a sim-free, unlocked price? |

MicroSD slot is right under the USB port & under the Left Shortcut button; how can you miss that?

* THAT is the key question. Most likely closure to $500US on a 1yr Subsidy - given all the features & security it offers to corporate users/personal users as well (security on this is second to NONE). Around $300 on 2yr or cheaper - very similar to what the US pricing was when the 8300 when it was first released. MANY ppl will upgrade to this model and have a spare to unlock and charge an ARM, Leg, and 1st born son for it on the greymarkets.

How do you mean odd? Resolution (have VGA does sound weird) or its Lanscape position which is pretty standard for qwerty smartphones? Considering its not a touchscreen model there is no need for VGA or XVGA (this res I think should never be in smartphones under 5" screens). VGA on 2.8" Touchscreen WM devices, you'll notice that the text on shortcut buttons is too small to read properly at arms length distance.

You, the army of crackberry addicts, and myself included
I'm really hoping I start working at RIM this year.
Supposedly the browser has improved and proper HTML rendering in desktop or in mobile mode is also improved as well. This'll also mean better support for MDS Intranet governed sites as well.
The cameraless version will SURELY make RIM HUGE dollars this next quarter. Remember its still 2/3 of their revenue for governement orders/sales.

I doubt before End of June / July.
Unless you get one shipped from US and pay for unlocking from AT & T
