Hi, i recently bought a Sandisk M2 4GB memory for my Sony Ericsson P1i, it worked fine all the way until today.

I took the memory out, formatted it on my laptop (FAT32), now the phone does not recognize it. It says fails in formatting, the memory needs to be formatted again so it can be used.

When i use it in the laptop, there´s no problem with the memory. I even used all the space to see if there was a bad sector problem.

My question is: which are the specifications so i can reformat it to use it again with my phone. Or how can i reformat it to make it work with my phone

Thanks in advance.

Yes i did it and it doesn't work. I even deleted the partition to format the memory from the phone but nothing.

The memory is perfect, it has no errors, no bad sectors, that was already checked.

When i connect it via the adapter the laptop recognizes it. When i connect it via the phone the laptop doesn't recognizes it.

have you tried another memory stick? it could be the slot that is damaged? has it been in contact with water?

Had similar problems on a SD card and on a M2 8GB. There is an easy solution but it it not easy to find. What you need to do is a low level format, neither the phone nor Windows can do that. There are several freeware tools available for download, google for "LLFsetup", this is the one I have been using.

I solved the problem, just installed the memory card on a Sony Ericsson W200, and pointed to Format Mem. Stick, inmediately the memory came to life on the W200 and now it works perfect on my P1i, i tested the size, copied many files and tested it again on my laptop to see if there was a bad sector problem, everything is fine 100%.

I tried the LLFsetup v2.36.1181 to low format it with administrator rights on vista but nothing happened.

Thanks everybody for your answers!

Keep in mind for the future, you need to format the memory stick as FAT, not as FAT32, then it will work both in the phone and in the PC.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD
