Was: P1i vpn
I need some help setting up vpn so that I can access my uni wifi network. However, evertime i try to create a vpn account i get this message:
"There is no internet account or policy registered".
I already have a wlan setup for the uni. What else do i have to do? its really frustrating as my friends with iphones managed to set it up in less than 5 minutes. Also, annoyingly the uni has a guide for windows mobile 5 but not for symbian. Here's the page for winmob 5 if anyone wants to have a look:
http://www.ncl.ac.uk/iss/netc[....]rk/setup/mobile/axim_x51v.html
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks.
Mo

Well, the p1 doesn't support vpn over pptp, so you won't get the vpn to work (and yes, even the iPhone can store a pptp config. Fricking great job - a business- phone outdone by the iPhone. WOOT! GO ).
Not like anyone has mentioned this before, either, of course.
Anyway.. so if you want to log on to a domain with the wlan, you need to add an ...@whateverdomain after the username.
So your solution would be to log on to wlan with a "domain", and then use the proxy- server with (the indirect) auth, if that's possible to access the web. It may or may not be possible to access the intranet this way. But it may be that you're still using the generic vpn point when you're using any of the local wlan points, so it's not certain that will work.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Thats one more thing my iphone friends are gonna be smug about, I might just return the p1i and get the the iphone, its certainly cheaper. |
