Hi. Am using my P1i since five months now and am enjoying it a lot. At first i had no problem whatsoever.

I recently (1month ago) bought a 2Gb Memory Card and it works fine. But since 1 week, when i switch on the phone, it stays idle after i insert my pin code. This problem is bypassed when I remove my memory card and switch on the phone. The phone starts smoothly and when i insert my memory card it works perfect.

Help me to start my phone without having to remove the memory card please.

try to format your m2 with another phone. backup the m2 with another phone before formatting.

Done formatting. but problem continues. i've even formatted my phones memo. Made it clean as if bought new.

But problem continues. Question>> Does P1i really support 2Gb Memory card?

hmm, you must try to backup your ms files to pc and format it, maybe with private and sys folders if you wanna keep your installed apps. cause any mistakes in the "resource" , "private" or "sys" folders may cause malfunction in boot. i'm sure with the resource folder. but if your memory stick installed applications are not neccessary, i recommend you try to backup your documents, photos, music or any private files and format your ms.
it should work i think.
the mistakes i said may be changed system fonts, icons, application datas, etc..

AND, i know p990i is supporting 8gb ms pro duo card, so p1i must support too. (it looks like supports 8gb in it's features)

sry i didnt see that you tried formatting. i guess you have damaged your ms2 card, or your phone. try to backup all your files and format internal disk in service menus (press "jog dial up, * , jog dial down x 2, * , jog dial down, * " in phone mode). this make the c: folder completely clean, cleaner than you bought. because it erases every thing in c:, and copying just the required files. it's safe, i oftenly do to improve performance. all pre installed applications like opera, quick office, music dj, or active sync doesnt get uninstalled. if it doest work, you must give your phone with m2 to a sony ericsson service. but try to change your m2 from where you bought it.

This is what i have done ,i.e, format internal disk through the route u've have just replied. done that one week ago. but still prob continues.

Think I'll wait for some more time to see if it passes out or till a solution pops up. Then i'll send it to a technical expert.

thanks for helping.

if it's under warranty, use your warranty. seems like the problem is with the phone's card reader(memory slot).

has it been in contact with the water?

You don't need an expert for that.

Didn't your P1i box include a 512 MB M2 ?

Insert it and check how it goes.

If everything is fine you should return the 2 GB card to the shop where you bought it and get another one elsewhere in a trusted shop.

Although many people claim that there are no fake m2 cards on the market, this seems to be the symptom of a fake m2 to me.

You should know that fake memory cards not only cause strange behaviour or instability on your phone, but may also damage it.

But don't ask me how to tell if yours is fake or not
